Sliders & Knobs
Ross Bryan was the head sound engineer for Christian Life Assembly–Maple Ridge Campus (formerly Maple Ridge Pentecostal Assembly) for 10 years, He has since been in charge of media productions for His Path Christian Centre involving sound, multimedia, video & podcast productions.
Ross has been instrumental in the video series “Day-By-Day”, a series of videos for those suffering from illness and infirmity, as well as “Becoming A House of Prayer” video. As overseer of all Pray Cottage Studios productions,Ross’ experience and enthusiasm have evolved into the creation of these seminars in an effort to pass on his skills and knowledge to others who are also called to this important ministry. |
|
This seminar takes the participants through the full gamut of sound. From the selection of microphones and input devices to the sounds reaching the congregation, Ross explains clearly the aims and methods of producing the best sounds possible.
He includes not only the mechanical requirements to make it sound right, but also the involvement of each participant and their responsibilities associated with the spiritual results of a Sunday worship. |
A full assessment of existing hardware and their best usage is included as part of the seminar as well as recommendations to further equipment acquisitions.
Ross uses a holistic approach to sound which includes, for the first half of the seminar, the worship team, the multimedia personnel as well as all those wanting to participate in sound. This is a good time to recruit sound people. All are invited to stay for the full seminar.
Ross follows up his seminars with a full and open question period.
Multi-Media Workshop
Multimedia in today’s churches is a discipline all in its own. It is the only position in the church usually requiring concentration from the beginning of the service to the end.
Ross’ approach to multimedia will prepare you for the endeavour ahead and provide you with the tools to present a professional and effective image. |
Ross will also reveal the strengths and weaknesses of different software (specifically PowerPoint and EasyWorship) and how to coordinate them.
It is recommended that this seminar be combined with the Slides 101 seminar to get the full benefit and scope of the position known as multimedia.
Slides 101 Workshop
From concept to finished PowerPoint slide, Ross takes you through the step-by-step requirements of a good slide. He reveals his complete workflow to producing images and text that match the occasion. He also shares his secrets to getting thousands of free and legal images to adorn your work. He explains the importance of contrast, warm and cold colors, and how to make the words pop.
He demonstrates how to imbed movies and sound into your PowerPoint productions and how to “find a place to hide” when the pastor /speaker goes off subject. You’ll learn the art of animations, transitions and how and where to use them. |
